Thanksgiving.☺☺

Instead of the usual thanksgiving parties, dinners and stuff, i decided to spend my thanksgiving with the less fortunate.  It’s amazing and heart melting how they appreciate the littlest of things you give them. The small generous gesture that made them happy and somewhat helped them get through the day is for me the most humbling experience. It felt good inside to do something for real. but—

It’s not easy giving your time and effort for someone you do not know, especially not your careabout. That is why I admire people who constantly engage in volunteers for charity or even have their own organizations.. I have no idea, but it warms the heart to know that there are many people out there who are willing to give up their time to make their fellow beings’ lives more comfortable and I definitely salute them for that! How I wish I could be closer to being like those people who have the dedication to serve others. As far as i remember the last time i volunteered for charity was 2 or 3 years ago. pretty long years i know, so to make it up, we (brother and i) arranged this thanksgiving party for the street kids and some laborers.. ☺

Gossip Grips.

image

We people crave news, yet neither newspapers nor newsletters really cover this enthralling beat of daily conflicts, joys, sorrows, and flaws. Gossip has no commitment either to accuracy or good taste. It thrives on the juicy tidbits of “rumor, tattle, or behind-the-scenes information, especially of an intimate or personal nature.”

Gossip entices. We listen. “The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts of the body” (Proverbs 18:8, NASB). True or false, gossip affects us.

Gossips are hardly avoided. It is inevitable. We discuss with one another the latest scuttlebutt, trying to piece together some impression of the truth from the rumors and activities of the day.

Yet the network is treacherously flawed. Gossip is almost always one-sided. It centers only to one side of the evidence alone. And then, rumors get out of control. Like a feather pillow burst in a slumber-party fight, there is no way to put back all the feathers. The damage cannot be undone.

It is a talk turned ugly. Though may sound ordinary, it actively seeks to tear down. It begins with wrath, perhaps the reaction to a disloyalty, a slight, a wound. It fights back, determined to destroy the person publicly. As we know, malicious talk can damage anyone. I know for once I am a suspect and at the same time a victim. But hey, there’s always a room for change, right?

And I believe the cure begins with understanding it. Gossip is a “way around”, an excuse to air grievances without accepting the task to work through a problem. Those who relay it become party to the sin and expand it still further.

We can stop talking about other people’s mistakes, instead mirror our own and learn from theirs. By trying to talk about others we are not convincing anyone but ourselves that we are better—It doesn’t do us any good. It doesn’t even lift us from where we are now. Life’s too short to be wasted on talking about how miserable or imperfect people are. So better zip it and deal with our own lives. “Show some lovin’!” Im not talking hypocrite here, I’m no angel but I am in the business of withdrawing from this wrongdoing.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen…. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you”(Ephesians 4:29, 31- 32).

02.04.10 Hooked with..

Okay, first things first. After watching the first episodes of vamp Diaries, I have to admit, all those were messed up. Messed up in a good way where I’d still be watching. Haha.

I’m an old school vampire fan. My love for the blood suckers does go all the way back from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Twilight, I watched every single Buffy episode, I read every single book in the Twilight series, and I will watch every single Twilight movie. I also dipped my fingers in HBO’s True Blood, but I have to admit that I bailed after the first four episodes. My disinterest probably has something to do with the fact that Vamp Bill just wasn’t hot enough to keep me interested. Haha.

Anyway, now I’m hooked with the vamp brothers of Vampire Diaries. Well, Paul Wesley plays Stefan Salvatore and Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore. I best remember Somerhalder, with his dark hair and those piercing Paul Newman-blue eyes, in that ridiculous, Young Americans movie last 2007. Talk about a guilty pleasure. Somerhalder also guested in Smallville if I’m not mistaken.

The fact of the matter is, I wasn’t completely sure I’d be watching The Vampire Diaries until I heard that Somerhalder was getting on board as the villain.. made me more excited! I spent the whole day watching all episodes, it centered around a high school girl torn between the two vamp brothers. I actually enjoy its sibling rivalry slash teenage love drama feel, it kept me thrilled and wide awake while watching it for 7 hours plus villain vamp, Damon Salvatorre is just too hot to keep me from watching the series!! haha

and i figured.. Should watch it too!;)

“

Girl:Part of me wishes that I could forget you too. Forget meeting you, finding out what you are and everything that has happened.

Guy: If that’s what you want..

Girl: Yes, it is. Because I don’t want it to be like this. I don’t want to feel like this. But I can’t, with everything that has happened I can’t loose the way I feel about you.
